Support Services

Birth Preparation

Being informed about and prepared for the physical and emotional aspects of childbirth will give you a sense of confidence to trust your body's ability to birth your baby. Birth preparation consists of a 2 hour prenatal visit at your home where we will discuss the 6 healthy birth practices and how to advocate for yourself, the stages of labor and what to expect, and comfort measures and relaxation techniques to help you cope with labor and birth. Included with this service is an additional 2 weeks of follow-on support by phone, if needed.

Prenatal Counseling

Addressing your concerns and questions, whether it's your first pregnancy or from previous birth experiences, you will feel supported and heard as you process and explore the "what if's" and options you have moving forward. Preparing and educating yourself prenatally will help create a birth preference guide specifically for you, your partner, and your baby. Empowered by the knowledge you gain when creating your birth preference guide you’ll learn to trust your intuition and stay focused with a sense of control when you enter into labor. This service includes 2 prenatal visits at your home or location of choice. During the first visit we will discuss your concerns, questions, and desires surrounding birth, and process any unsettled previous birth experiences, if needed. You will explore and learn about all your birthing options as I record your preferences. Between our two visits you are encouraged to contact me with any changes or questions regarding your birth options. At the second visit we finalize your preferences and discuss additional concerns you may have. Creating a birth preference guide has 3 significant benefits for improving your birth experience: #1 It ensures you and your partner are on the same page when it comes to how you'd like to experience birth. #2 It empowers you to make informed decisions that are best for you and your baby. #3 It opens lines of communication between you and your birthing team about your birth options.

Childbirth Education

Learning about the normal, healthy and natural process of childbirth will help you make sense of the vast amount of information you receive about pregnancy and birth through the internet, books on birth, and from other women and friends. Being educated on the 6 Healthy Birth Practices can help simplify birth by helping you make sense of information, let go of your fears, make informed maternity-care decisions, and get the safe, healthy birth you want in the current maternity-care environment. After completing a Birth Simply Childbirth Class you will have increased confidence in your ability to give birth and be able to make confident and informed decisions throuhout pregrnancy, birth, and parenting.

Labor, Birth, & Postpartum

Drawing on my professional training, knowledge and experience you are provided continuous emotional support, physical comfort and evidenced based information so you feel confident and prepared to make informed decisions as they arise in labor. With a calm reassurance and perspective, I provide you and your partner suggestions for labor progress and help with relaxation, massage, positioning and other techniques for comfort. I will remain with you throughout labor and birth and up to two hours after birth, until you are comfortable and your family is ready for quiet time together. We will meet at your home for postpartum support within 6 weeks after baby is born to see how you and your baby are doing, review the birth, and get feedback from you about my role. As your doula, I am working for you, not your caregiver or hospital, so you feel personally supported and taken care of and can experience a positively empowered birth. **Packages and fees listed below.
